Biography
Anne Pryde works from her home-based studio tucked away in the forest in Hatchet Lake Nova Scotia. She fell in love with clay in 2001 while studying fine art at NSCAD University. In 2006 she began Anne Pryde Pottery, making fresh and sophisticated forms from mid-range stoneware clay.
Most of Anne’s work begins on the pottery wheel where it is thrown and altered. Often hand rolled slabs are incorporated into her designs as lids, bases or small individual dishes. All the glazes used are food safe, dishwasher durable, and microwave friendly. Anne designs her glazes in the studio wearing a big lab coat, respirator mask and gloves. Often she feels like a mad scientist, and hopes someone will write a comic book about her.
